What is our philosophy behind Kids Friendly Care?

The O.S.C.A.R approved programmes operated by Kids Friendly Care are part of the St Columba's Presbyterian Church's aim to provide a community environment that is both safe and secure for all children and in doing so providing a basis from which the children will enjoy, grow and prosper which will serve them well in later life.

The programme's philosophy is based on the church's mission statement: "A family reaching out in love to God, each other and the community".

Our programmes are based on love and respect, involve a Christian focus, and are community based.

Where will you find us?

We operate from the "old church premises" tucked neatly at the back of St Columba's Church, 176 Gloucester street, Taradale.

The "old church" was built in 1866 and has moved quite a few times during its lifetime. It is now the centre of all our youth activities and consists of a large hall with adjacent lounge and kitchen. The lounge is equipped with a projector and audio facilities. At the back we have a playground with climbing equipment, sandpit and a workbench. 

When are we open?

• Before School - Weekdays 7:30am – 8:30am
• After School - Weekdays 3:00pm – 5.30pm

Which schools do we deal with?

Kids Friendly Care caters for pupils from all the primary and intermediate schools in the vicinity of Taradale, Greenmeadows and Onekawa. We do pick ups on foot, or with a minivan or private vehicle from:

• Henry Hill School
• Onekawa Primary School
• Parkside Christian School
• Reignier Catholic School
• St Patrick's School
• Taradale Primary School
• Taradale Intermediate School
• Tamatea Intermediate school

Our after school sessions include afternoon tea and an we provide the opportunity for children to complete their homework. We are an O.S.C.A.R approved agency and qualifying parents can apply for Winz subsidies.
